pumpkin spice and everything nice

This morning I was surprised in two ways...
I actually got up before dawn for a jog (never happens)
and then I heard a strange noise below my feet.

The crunch of leaves is such a nice sound.
I carried these specimens with me for the rest of my jog so that I could examine them closer.

Such beauties deserve to be pressed and kept!
While I do not have an actual press, a few large books do just the trick.

And this guy is just so large he won't fit in even my largest book!
He deserves to be a focal point for awhile!

Thank goodness the heatwave didn't stick around here on the ocean, so I could slip on his slippers and press some of my leaves. Such a fun fall activity!
(yes, I did just say that and I am well aware that I should probably get some more crafty friends, or kids... or both )
What are some of your favorite fall crafts and activities?

Just so glad it finally cooled down today. how strange the weather has been.

Yes! I too love the diversity of colors on those leaves!

And yes, isn't that guy huge! I think you are right, some sort of Maple. It has a very strange smooth bark though.

You went jogging? Wow. I need to give that a whirl ;)
I adore fall, the leave, acorns, chestnuts...love it all. I'm a new(ish) knitter, so it's time to haul out the needles.
have a great day!

I love Autumn, and I have so many leaves in books that I have forgotten about, and every so often I will get a nice surprise when one falls out....

OH yes knitting! Now that sounds prefect this time of year. Crochet I can do, but knitting seems like a whole other world of learning.

That does sounds like a fun surprise Lucy! Hopefully I can forget about a few of these guys and rediscover them later!

Leaves are one of my favorite things about fall. Love everything about them, the colors, watching them float down to the ground slowly, listening to them rustle in the trees when the wind blows. Love. And that big leaf is amazing! It is too bad it won't fit into a book to be pressed, it would be so gorgeous framed.
