well they are really more like brown and cream cookies... but alas

This ny staple is featured in the Cooks Illustrated / Test Kitchen "Holiday Cookies" issue

More like little cakes than cookies.
and much too delicious.

These were the hubsters daily treat when we lived in nyc.
(He would always save the vanilla half for me, so I made him a few "black and black" versions)

Husband says he has been deprived of these so I really shouldn't share...

But I wrapped each in a piece of parchment and brought some to work
...so as not to eat them all ourselves...
they were well received and I highly recommend them :)
